Enhancing Tunnel Corridor Operations Through ITS Scheduling
Installation of lane use signals, dynamic message signs, CCTV systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and associated electrical systems along the I-895 Baltimore Harbor Tunnel corridor served to enhance critical transportation operations. Managing these high-priority ITS improvements required extensive coordination to integrate new infrastructure into an existing, active traffic environment.
Detailed timeline management was achieved through a CPM schedule in Primavera P6, which included 425 activities, 1,122 relationships, and 105 critical path items. This scheduling foundation proved essential for procuring long-lead ITS components and sequencing phased construction to maintain traffic requirements while ensuring all electrical and communication systems were implemented correctly.
